TitleChanging NIC Handles (Domain Contacts)
Description

A NIC handle (Network Information Centre handle) is a generated reference attached to a list of contact information that can be assigned to the domains specific contact types (Registrant, Admin, Tech and Billing). Each NIC handle is unique and can only be assigned to the creating registries TLD (i.e a NIC handle created in the .au registry can only be assigned to .au domains.) NIC handles can be modified or removed through the domain level console only.

Note: While Melbourne IT offers you the ability to modify your domain name WHOIS Billing and Technical contacts, we only do so because of our obligation as a globally accredited registrar. We don't send bills to the billing contact. We don't send technical emails to the technical contact. We don't send anything other than statutory notifications to the registrant (or domain name owner). All information is always sent to the person listed as the current contact for that domain name.

Statutory notifications are sent to the registrant (or domain name owner) email address. New NIC handles/domain name contacts can be created, however you can't create a new registrant using this method. To change the owner/registrant of a .au domain, a registrant name change request is required.
